Job description

Description

Our team at Blackline Safety is growing! As a people-driven technology company, with a mission to make sure every worker returns home safely, we drive innovation, practice resiliency, demonstrate leadership, go the extra mile for our customers, and empower our people to be their best.

As a Sales Development Representative (SDR) at Blackline Safety, you will play a pivotal role in generating and qualifying new business opportunities across North America. You will be the first point of contact for prospective customers, working to understand their needs and introduce them to our solutions.

Your goal is to build strong relationships, identify qualified sales opportunities, and connect prospects with the appropriate Regional Sales Manager in their territory, setting the stage for successful long-term partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and research potential customers through outbound prospecting, social media, industry research, networking events, and other lead generation channels.
  • Generate new business opportunities through high-volume outbound phone calls, emails, LinkedIn, and other digital engagement strategies.
  • Qualify inbound and outbound leads by understanding operational challenges, safety requirements, and buying processes.
  • Schedule discovery calls, product demonstrations, and introductory meetings for Regional Sales Managers and Sales Specialists.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Blackline Safety's connected safety solutions, including lone worker technologies, gas detection, cloud software, and managed services.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, safety regulations, and the competitive landscape to effectively position Blackline's solutions.
  • Accurately document customer interactions, opportunities, and pipeline activity within HubSpot CRM.
  • Meet or exceed individual activity, pipeline generation, and qualified opportunity targets.
  • Engage with prospects to understand their business needs and qualify leads based on predefined criteria.
  • Schedule meetings or demos between leads/prospects and the sales team to further discuss how our solutions can address their needs.
  • Track and report key performance metrics including activity levels, pipeline generation, conversion rates, and opportunity quality.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Channel Partners to maximize lead conversion and improve sales processes.
  • Provide regular updates on lead generation activities and progress to management.
  • Represent Blackline Safety at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events as required.

About You

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in sales, business development, or lead generation. Experience in the safety or gas detection industry is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to confidently engage decision-makers across multiple industries.
  • Experience using CRM platforms (HubSpot preferred), Microsoft 365, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, or similar sales intelligence tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, coachable, and results-oriented with a growth mindset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage AI tools and technology to improve productivity and sales effectiveness.
  • Comfortable making a high volume of outbound calls and engaging prospects through multiple communication channels.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with a distributed sales team.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fluent in English. Additional languages are considered an asset.
