Job description

Senior Electrical Lead

Building Design & Engineering | Vancouver, BC

Your New Company

Hays is proud to be partnering with Omicron, one of Western Canada’s largest integrated development, design, and construction firms — uniting real estate strategists, architects, interior designers, engineers, and builders as One Omicron. We believe that when all disciplines work together from day one, we deliver a better way of creating buildings: faster decisions, fewer handoffs, stronger outcomes, and a far better experience for clients and partners.

Founded in 1998 on the belief that curiosity, courage, respect, and connection drive exceptional work, Omicron continues to challenge convention and innovate within an industry known for outdated processes. Our tech‑forward mindset, collaborative model, and entrepreneurial culture empower our teams to solve complex problems, push boundaries, and deliver meaningful impact in the communities where we work

Your New Role

Omicron is hiring a Senior Electrical Lead to support our expanding portfolio of commercial, residential, industrial, and institutional projects. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Design & Engineering, you'll work within our integrated design-build environment and collaborate closely with architects, engineers, designers, builders, and project managers from concept through construction.

This role offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership on complex projects while helping shape the future of Omicron's electrical engineering practice.

What You'll Do :

  • Lead the design and coordination of power distribution, lighting, life safety, and communications systems
  • Provide technical leadership on complex building projects
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout all project phases and support project delivery from concept through construction
  • Contribute to technical standards, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives

Beyond project delivery, you will help shape the future of the department by contributing to technical standards, supporting process improvements, and helping expand the capabilities of the electrical engineering team as it grows. For the right individual, this is a genuine opportunity to lead, influence, and leave a meaningful mark on the evolution of Omicron's electrical engineering practice.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • P.Eng. designation in British Columbia
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience, including 3+ years on North American projects
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code, and National Building Code
  • Experience designing power distribution, lighting, life safety, and communications systems
  • Revit/BIM coordination, contract administration, and field review experience
  • Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills

What You'll Get in Return

  • Competitive Compensation: $145,000-$165,000 base salary, plus an annual discretionary bonus
  • One Omicron Culture — We’re a tight‑knit, people‑centered community that values connection, trust, and showing up for one another. You’ll experience this through our team-building events, cross‑disciplinary collaboration, community involvement, and our signature annual summer social. We build meaningful relationships here and take pride in being a team that lifts each other up.
  • Benefits & Well-Being — Enjoy extended health and dental coverage, a Health Care Spending Account, an Employee Assistance Program through Telus Health, and a fitness program. Our benefits support your physical and mental well‑being.
  • Growth & Development — We invest in continuous learning because shared knowledge multiplies impact. You’ll receive 2 paid Education Days each year for external courses, conferences, or webinars, plus an Education Budget that supports job‑related learning such as technical training, leadership development, or accredited designation fees. We also host regular Lunch & Learns that help deepen collective expertise.
  • Retirement Savings & Matching — We offer a Group RRSP program with up to 3% employer matching, helping you invest in your financial future while you build a rewarding career with us.
  • Comprehensive PTO — Our paid time off program includes 2 personal days and 5 sick days annually (prorated based on start date), in addition to comprehensive vacation entitlements, giving you flexibility to rest, recharge, and handle life’s responsibilities.
  • Convenient Downtown Location — Our centrally located office puts you steps from transit, cafés, restaurants, and shops, making your workday smooth and connected.
