PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Be a key player in the protection and enjoyment of Gatineau Park, the capital’s conservation park. As an Information Officer, your primary role is to provide accurate information regarding the Park (and other tourist attractions), to suggest routes or activities to visitors and to be a champion of the park’s conservation mission. The mobile Information Officer works at varying locations within Gatineau Park and provides information and orientation to visitors regarding various Park activities, sites and regulations, specifically related to the Fall Rhapsody program.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

• Completed secondary education and enrolled in a post‑secondary program in Fall 2026.
• Fluently bilingual in both official languages.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES

• Strong interpersonal communication skills in individual or group exchanges.
• Relevant experience working with the public in client or information services or tourism.
• Knowledge of Gatineau Park and the National Capital Region as a tourism destination.
• Knowledge of NCC’s mandate and activities.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Available up to 22.5 hours per week (part‑time).
• Must work each weekend and civic holiday from September 1 to October 30, including Thanksgiving long weekend.
• Must wear the provided uniform.
• Must be willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must attend mandatory paid training sessions at the Gatineau Park Visitor Centre.
• Must arrange own means of transportation to the assigned work location; public transport is not available.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Project Officer of Sustainable Transportation, the Information Officer is responsible for:

• Welcoming and informing visitors about the activities during the Fall Rhapsody weekends.
• Providing information on road closures.
• Answering information requests from visitors.
• Providing wayfinding assistance within the Park.
• Collecting visitor comments and suggestions.
• Contributing to service evaluation by suggesting improvements to activities, exhibits, program material, or other resources.
