Temporary Legal Assistant

Legal Assistant (Temporary – August & October Coverage)We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant for a short-term assignment in a professional legal office. This role will support lawyers in a fast-paced environment and requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.ASSIGNMENT DATES:

• August 17 – September 4
• October 8 – 14
  Preference will be given to candidates available for both periods.

SCHEDULE:

• Monday to Friday
• 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare, review, and edit legal documents and correspondence
• Manage calendars, appointments, and scheduling
• Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls and communications
• Maintain organized and confidential filing systems
• Act as a liaison between lawyers, clients, and external contacts
• Provide general administrative and office support

QUALIFICATIONS:GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Legal/Administrative Assistant Diploma OR 3–5 years of relevant experience
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

LEGAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Candidates outside Newfoundland must have experience in both criminal and family law
• Candidates within Newfoundland may qualify with familiarity with local court forms and processes

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to provide a Certificate of Conduct with Vulnerable Sector Check
• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision

PAY RATE
