Job description
Resource WorkerFull-time Position in Timmins As a member of the Child Care team, your primary responsibilities will be to assist, support, and recruit families to become foster parents and promote Foster Care and Adoption services to the community. The Resource worker is required to assess the suitability of foster and adoptive applicants for children in care, provide standardized training, assess and support Kinship cases and work collaboratively with foster families, Kin Parents, service providers and other professionals to address the service needs of the client. Additional responsibilities include completing assessments utilizing a variety of assessment tools and instruments within the child protection domain, and provide intervention services to children and youth in care and their families.
Job Requirements (Qualifications and Skills):
  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work, or a Baccalaureate in Social Work is preferred. A College Diploma in Social Services may be considered along with other relevant university degrees or diplomas deemed suitable by the Executive Director.
  • Experience working with children, youth and families is considered an asset.
  • Able to interpret and apply relevant legislative requirements including, but not limited to the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, and Ministry standards.
  • Excellent knowledge of community services, resources, and processes regarding access and referral to services.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours as required.
  • Must be willing to travel as required.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is required; and
  • Candidates must possess a minimum G2 driver’s license at the time of application and be willing to obtain a valid G Class driver’s license as a condition of employment or already possess a valid G Class driver’s license and have access to their own vehicle.

Les responsabilités supplémentaires comprennent d'effectuer des évaluations à l'aide de divers outils et outils d'évaluation dans le domaine de la protection de l'enfance et de fournir des services d'intervention aux enfants et aux jeunes pris en charge ainsi qu'à leur famille.
Exigences de l’emploi (qualités et compétences requises):
  • Une maîtrise en travail social ou un baccalauréat en travail social est préféré. Un diplôme collégial en travail social et autres dégrée ou diplômes peuvent être considérée, jugés convenables par le directeur général.
  • De l’expérience de travail auprès des enfants, des jeunes et des familles est considérée comme un atout.
  • La capacité d’interpréter et d’appliquer les exigences législatives, qui inclus, mais n’est pas limité à la Loi sur les services à l’enfance, à la jeunesse et à la famille, et les normes du ministère.
  • Excellente connaissance des services communautaires, des ressources et des processus relatifs à l’accès et à l’aiguillage vers les services.
  • Excellentes aptitudes à communiquer, excellent entregent et sens de l’organisation.
  • Doit être disposé et capable de travailler selon des horaires flexibles en fonction des besoins.
  • Doit être disposé à voyager selon les besoins.
  • Bilinguisme (anglais/français) est requis.
  • Les candidats doivent être titulaires d'un permis de conduire G2 au moment de leur candidature et être disposés à obtenir un permis de conduire G valide comme condition d'emploi, ou être déjà titulaires d'un permis de conduire G valide et avoir accès à leur propre véhicule.
