Job description

Title: Collections Representative

Location: Mississauga, ON

Duration: 6 Months

Salary Range: C$ 25/Hr.

Introduction

This role focuses on managing late-stage collections, specifically dealing with bankruptcies, consumer proposals, and credit counseling. The position will require strong analytical skills to assess financial statements and determine business liabilities, applying relevant legislation to maximize asset recovery.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of direct insolvency experience.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Administrative Department within Canadian Financial Institutions.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of collections experience recovering Canadian banking products such as credit cards, personal lines of credit, overdrafts, small business credit cards, and lines of credit.
  • Basic knowledge of the Canadian Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the ability to read Statements of Affairs and file Proof of Claim(s).
  • Self-reliant and punctual.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaboration and team skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state/provincial, and local laws pertaining to consumer collections.
  • Understanding of the competitive marketplace and trends in product offerings.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of trustee/vendor platforms.
  • Previous analyst/problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual in French/English.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Assess the financial situation of individuals or businesses to determine the appropriate course of action.
  • Prepare and submit necessary documentation relating to insolvency procedures.
  • Keep up to date with changes in insolvency law and practice.
  • Establish expertise with Consumer Collections personnel as a key support contact/resource/coach.
  • Analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved customer situations to managers as required.
  • Complete required documentation to ensure customer requests are accurately processed.
  • Organize work information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service that builds trust through expertise, responsive service, and support.
  • Follow documented policies and procedures to execute transactions, activities, and processes.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of customer and company information.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing changes to make processes more effective and efficient.
  • Develop and maintain awareness of industry trends and best practices and the regulatory environment as it relates to collections products and services.
  • Complete complex and diverse tasks within given rules/limits and handle escalations from other employees.
