Job description

Position Summary

BCIT’s Biomedical Engineering Technology program in the School of Health Sciences is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty member. The successful candidate will teach in classroom and laboratory settings and contribute to curriculum development, applied learning, and program initiatives.

The Biomedical Engineering Technology program has been preparing graduates for careers in healthcare technology management, clinical engineering, and the medical device industry since 1969. See program information at: bcit.ca/study/programs/5063dipma Duties & Responsibilities DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, deliver, and continuously improve classroom, laboratory and online learning activities.
  • Prepare and maintain course outlines, lecture materials, laboratory exercises, learning resources, and assessment materials.
  • Evaluate student learning using a variety of assessment methods.
  • Maintain and develop laboratory equipment and instructional resources.
  • Research, recommend, and procure equipment and technologies that support program learning outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with healthcare organizations, industry partners, and professional associations.
  • Participate in curriculum review, accreditation, quality assurance, student recruitment, admissions, and program committees.
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or another closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in electronics and biomedical instrumentation.
  • Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and computer programming.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts to diverse learners.
Preferred:
  • Experience with medical devices and medical imaging systems.
  • Experience with computer networking.
  • Experience in medical device design and development.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or related discipline.
Experience:
  • Minimum three years of recent full-time (or equivalent) industry experience in biomedical engineering, biomedical engineering technology, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum one year of post-secondary teaching, laboratory instruction, technical training, or equivalent educational experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of biomedical electronics, instrumentation, and medical equipment.
  • Experience developing instructional materials, laboratory exercises, or technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated mentoring, coaching, or supervisory experience.
  • Experience working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
