Job description

Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:

ARC’TERYX is growing -- in guest experience richness, in variety and sophistication of business models, in operational volume, global markets and advanced workflows. The Technology group and the architecture practice are a key part of supporting and accelerating ARC’TERYX!

We believe that Information Architecture, done right, is the cornerstone of informing and enabling innovative solutions and workflows; led by experienced professionals who bring their expertise and insight to the craft of creating intuitive information structure that drives superior process and inter-system communication. Developing robust information models and ensuring seamless access to information in a dynamic environment, while collaborating with teams from product owners to developers, is central to our practice.

We are seeking a special candidate to advance our enterprise architecture practice bringing an information architecture lens to end-to-end solutions and systems strategy serving our global business. The right candidate passionately sees information as not static and at rest but as constantly in-flight, representing the dynamic communication and vocabulary between our business domains and their underlying systems.

This role can be hired remote. Remote candidates must be committed to Pacific time zone hours aligned with the ARC’TERYX headquarters location in North Vancouver, B.C. Open to applicants residing in the United States and Canada.

Meet Your Future Team:

Information architecture is an integral part of the enterprise architecture discipline. The enterprise architecture team is an enabling group in our Technology department supporting our business application, service platform, and PMO teams. We research and produce architecture options for business projects and major initiatives, align projects with strategic priorities and policies, own and maintain explanatory views of extant systems, and guide tool and vendor strategy. Working directly with product management and software engineering teams, we ensure architecture plans transition successfully to delivery and operation.

As a component of the over-arching engineering excellence practice, the enterprise architecture team are also key sponsors and stewards of the engineering guild providing community, best practice, emerging trends, education opportunities, role definition, and career guidance to our family of IT engineers.

If you were in the Senior Information Architect role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

  • Creating scoped conceptual and logical architectures for product leaders with trade-offs, policy adherence, risk advisement, and alignment with group and global platform strategy

  • With enterprise architecture, documenting and developing business domain information structures to ensure accessibility and usability in new projects and ongoing operations

  • Partnering with the Omnichannel Platform domain teams, designing and refining interface definitions and data exchange schemas, aligning related application designs, roadmaps, and tool choices to ensure superior business event and business service consumption and leverage

  • Partnering with the Data & Analytics team to enhance our Data Platform and inform physical data architecture from conceptual and logical information architecture expressing Arc’teryx end-to-end business domains and process flow

  • Providing subject-matter expertise and ownership to build our architecture modeling practice using LeanIX tools, with special focus on relating business data models to applications and business capability management.

Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:

  • Leading the design and implementation of AI-empowered information solutions, ensuring seamless integration of advanced data models, data accessibility, and premium user experience

  • Teaming with business stewards, D&A team, and Enterprise Data Management to evangelize and prioritize MDM and DQ efforts in key domain areas of product, customer, and supply chain

  • Leading the development of information strategies that drive premium consumer engagement across digital touchpoints with consistency in our global regions

  • Participating and owning technology efforts to leverage our global technology platform in Asia-Pacific and other expanding markets

Are you our next Senior Information Architect?

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field

  • You may also have advanced degrees or certifications in technology leadership, cloud computing, or information architecture (highly desirable)

  • You have 12+ years in engineering roles of increasing responsibility and sophistication including prior experience as an enterprise or information architect

  • You have experience designing and implementing IT foundational capabilities in areas such as application integration, identity and access management, APIs and event schemas, and shared platform design and operation

  • You have direct design and demonstrated experience in application domains such as supply-chain, eCommerce, marketing technology, warehousing/logistics, product lifecycle management and sustainability; demonstrated experience with premium consumer digital experience with global deployment at scale highly desirable

  • You have demonstrated experience with architecture management tools and process; direct experience with LeanIX desirable

  • You have experience discovering needs and synthesizing viable architecture plans that solve cross-domain domain requirements and end-to-end flows

  • You have experience assessing current systems and flows as springboard to informing and contributing to project solution and strategy

  • You have experience with option synthesis with trade-offs, required policies, risks, and best-fit recommendation

  • You have demonstrated skill and desire to guide and inspire IT engineering best practice and provide skills mentorship and career path guidance to members of the engineering guild

  • You have strong communication skills and can inspire teams and stakeholders with a clear vision and innovative, logical plan of action

  • You have direct retail or adjacent domain experience at organization(s) providing premium products and user experiences aligned with brand promise

  • Your passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it
