Job description
Our large Oil & Gas industry client is seeking a Senior IT Data Analyst to support enterprise reporting, IT financial governance, and operational analytics. This role will own Power BI reporting, analyze and validate data, support third-party spend and SOX reporting, and translate complex technical and financial data into actionable insights for senior leadership. Working closely with IT, Finance, and Procurement, the successful candidate will help improve reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.
Contract duration: 1-year contract to start with a possibility of extension
Working model: Hybrid onsite within downtown Calgary (3 days in-office)
Must-Haves:
- 5+ years of experience in Data Analytics or Business Intelligence Analytics positions supporting IT operations/ Financial Operations.
- 5+ years of SQL and advanced Excel skills for data extraction and validation.
- 3+ years of Power BI experience with data validation, reporting, and dashboard development.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience presenting to leadership.
- Experience translating technical data into meaningful business insights.
Nice-to-Haves:
- IT Financial Management (ITFM) or vendor spend reporting experience.
- Knowledge of SOX, governance, or compliance reporting.
- Power Apps and Power Automate.
- Microsoft Fabric, Copilot, or AWS experience.
- Experience in a large enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and executive reporting.
- Analyze, validate, and reconcile data using SQL and Excel.
- Perform data wrangling, data quality assessments, and reporting enhancements to improve reporting accuracy.
- Support IT financial operations, third-party spend reporting, and SOX compliance.
- Partner with IT, Finance, Procurement, and business stakeholders to deliver reporting and insights.
- Identify opportunities to automate reporting and improve operational processes using Microsoft technologies.
