Project Manager - Concrete Formwork

Our client is a leading concrete formwork contractor delivering complex commercial and multi-family concrete projects across British Columbia. Originally founded in Ireland, the company has expanded its operations across Western Canada and has established a strong reputation for executing technically challenging concrete structures, including large-scale high-rise developments.

With a growing team across BC, our client specializes in high-quality formwork solutions, large-scale mobilization, and delivering projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule. They are currently seeking a Project Manager to join their team in Colwood, BC, supporting the delivery of a major project while working closely with the Senior Project Manager and site teams.

This opportunity is ideal for a project professional who is hands-on, relationship-driven, and capable of taking ownership of project deliverables while collaborating with internal teams, General Contractors, and trade partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, administer, and manage project contracts and documentation.
• Support the Senior Project Manager with tender reviews, quantity take-offs, budgeting, estimating, and project scheduling.
• Manage project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and manpower planning.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with General Contractor Project Managers, Site Superintendents, and project stakeholders.
• Review architectural and structural drawings to identify constructability concerns and opportunities for improvement.
• Coordinate and track shop drawings, RFIs, and required project information.
• Maintain project schedules, including baseline schedules and six-week look-ahead schedules.
• Monitor project progress, productivity, labour requirements, and material forecasting.
• Prepare and submit weekly time-and-material (T&M) claims.
• Track project delays and support preparation of delay documentation and claims when required.
• Manage change orders, progress claims, purchase order logs, and project controls.
• Participate in weekly project review meetings with site teams.
• Conduct regular site visits to review:
  • Productivity and schedule performance
  • Labour and material forecasts
  • Safety performance
  • Quality control
  • Project deficiencies
• Work collaboratively with site teams to identify solutions and maintain project momentum.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager within commercial construction.
• Experience working on concrete, formwork, structural concrete, or related scopes is strongly preferred.
• Candidates from a General Contractor background will be considered if they have managed structural concrete packages or concrete-related scopes.
• Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (Engineering background preferred but not required).
• Strong understanding of construction project controls, including:
  • Budgets
  • Scheduling
  • RFIs
  • Change orders
  • Progress claims
  • Contract administration
• Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of deliverables, and drive projects forward.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with clients, contractors, and site teams.
