Senior Structural Engineer – Mining Sector (Design & Engineering)

Montreal (hybrid work model – based on location)

Key Responsibilities

• Perform site visits to inspect and assess existing mining infrastructure.
• Carry out the analysis and design of steel structures and concrete foundations in accordance with applicable codes and standards for the mining and heavy industrial sectors.
• Prepare sketches and collaborate with designers to produce detailed drawings.
• Coordinate with clients and other disciplines in developing layout designs.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, and scope of work documents.
• Write and contribute to technical memoranda and reports within areas of expertise.
• Develop detailed construction drawings for steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures.
• Ensure all assigned projects are delivered in accordance with scope, budget, and schedule.
• Participate in and contribute to proposal preparation.
• Perform post‑IFC (Issued for Construction) services, including shop drawing reviews and field inspections.
• Stamp documents and drawings as required and if appropriately licensed.
• Apply safety and integrity principles in all structural documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum of 7+ years of experience in project engineering, design, and construction within the mining sector, including both surface and underground operations.
• Experience in design and construction within the heavy industrial sector.
• Experience performing structural inspections and assessments.
• Strong hands‑on experience in the analysis and design of steel structures, reinforced concrete structures, and foundations for buildings and heavy equipment, preferably in mining. Experience with environmental structures is considered an asset.
• Experience designing steel and concrete structures for various ancillary industrial structures such as pipe racks, equipment platforms, pump foundations, retaining walls, monorails, etc.
• Knowledge of mining‑related processes is a strong asset.
• Proficiency in STAAD.Pro for structural analysis and design.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary BIM environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.
• Bilingual (French/English) with strong written and verbal proficiency in both languages. The role involves regular communication with internal and external partners across Canada and in the United States, both spoken and written, in English.
