Job Description

We are currently seeking a Wealth Planning Specialist to join our team. The Wealth Planning Specialist (WPS) provides professional and comprehensive financial planning advice to high value members within assigned credit union branches. This role completes a review of the member’s investment portfolio and provides recommendations that meet the member’s life cycle needs. Based on member fit, the WPS is the primary decision maker as to who manages the member’s ongoing financial needs and will refer the member to the appropriate advisor. As part of the discovery process, the WPS proactively seeks business development opportunities with current and potential members for wealth management as well as subsidiary products and services. The WPS provides support and informal mentoring to branch employees and Wealth Advisors within assigned branches as required. This role does not manage a member portfolio of business.

Typical Day

  • Business Development: expert in wealth discovery process, identifies needs, engages with existing and new members, consolidates assets, designs comprehensive portfolio, hands off to appropriate advisor.
  • Sales and Service Strategy: provides complex financial planning advice, offers investment vehicles, refers to product specialist, assists members in consolidating assets.
  • Risk Management: acts in accordance with ethical standards, policies, regulatory requirements; maintains compliance with audit and risk management policies.
  • Leadership: builds relationships with branch employees and provides subject matter expertise and mentoring.
  • Member Transactions: ensures member accounts opened, transactions completed accurately, maintains member files, hands off to appropriate advisor.

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mutual Funds License and CFP designation.
  • 6 years experience in an investment/financial planning advisory sales position.
  • Familiarity with financial planning tools/software.
  • Superior knowledge of a wide range of investment products and services.
  • Networking and relationship building skills.
  • Strong sales abilities: active listening, identifying opportunities, influencing and negotiating to close sale.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
  • Proficient with planning software such as Conquest.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $50,000 per year.
  • Commission Structure: performance-driven commissions with strong earning potential.
  • Performance Bonus: additional variable compensation aligned to results.
