Key Responsibilities

  • Document patient interactions in accordance with ROHCG health care records practices and policies.
  • Assist in daily home/unit activities, including patient counts, meal supervision, refreshments, and other activities as directed by the interdisciplinary team.
  • Monitor inventory and coordinate supply reordering; communicate with the interdisciplinary team regarding supplies and equipment.
  • Support environmental safety, equipment maintenance inspections, infection control practices, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Transport/porter patients, supplies, equipment, mail, requisitions, specimens, and other items as required.
  • Maintain the tidiness, cleanliness, and safety of patient care areas, including assisting with patient rooms and ensuring areas remain free of hazards.
  • Supervise and monitor patient movement within the home/unit and in the community as required; report all patient movement and observations to the interdisciplinary team.
  • Support patients with daily living activities, meal supervision, social and leisure activities, and other assigned tasks.
  • Assess and report patient interactions and share responsibility with the team for patient care and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Participate in program evaluations, discharge planning, implementation of discharge plans, and assist residents with discharge-related applications.
  • Communicate with community agencies and families as directed by the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and contribute effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Adhere to ROHCG policies and procedures, staff and patient safety requirements, and The Royal’s Anti-Racism, Harassment & Discrimination Free Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year post-secondary diploma or certification in health related field.
  • Knowledge of infection control principles and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to participate as a member of a multidisciplinary clinical team and function well in a team oriented climate.
  • Perform clinical work functions that support the provision of patient and family focused care.
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check – vulnerable sector.
  • Possess a valid G driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a professional multi-disciplinary treatment team.
  • Safety and Security in the Workplace Training (candidate must agree to complete prior to start date if this qualification is not met).

Language Requirements

  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
