Job description

Job Summary:

The Network Administrator is responsible for advanced administration and operational support of enterprise network infrastructure including LAN WAN cloud connectivity data centre networking and security platforms. This role ensures secure highly available and performance-optimized network services through vendor coordination monitoring and infrastructure optimization without owning architectural authority or enterprise policy.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support LAN WAN and data centre networking environments in collaboration with Managed Service Providers (MSPs).
  • Monitor network availability capacity and performance; proactively prevent service degradation.
  • Perform incident problem and change management for network services.
  • Support Azure and AVS cloud networking including ExpressRoute configuration and hybrid connectivity.
  • Assist with network infrastructure lifecycle management including upgrades and refreshes of switches routers firewalls and Wi-Fi infrastructure.
  • Administer network security and perimeter services such as Cisco and Checkpoint firewalls proxy solutions and network access controls.
  • Manage application delivery and load balancing using Citrix Netscaler.
  • Support enterprise Wi-Fi infrastructure using Aruba/HPE wireless solutions.
  • Support networking for AI and high-performance compute environments ensuring low latency and high throughput.
  • Utilize network monitoring tools to identify bottlenecks analyze traffic and ensure centralized logging and observability.
  • Coordinate and oversee MSP and vendor activities ensuring compliance with standards and SLAs.
  • Maintain network documentation diagrams configurations and operational runbooks.
  • Participate in change advisory boards and governance to ensure compliance with enterprise security and operational standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of enterprise network administration experience in large multi-site or hybrid environments.
  • Strong expertise in TCP/IP routing protocols (BGP OSPF) switching (VLANs STP) WAN technologies and MPLS.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure networking ExpressRoute and hybrid network design.
  • Experience with Cisco and Checkpoint firewalls Bluecoat or equivalent proxy solutions.
  • Experience administering Citrix Netscaler for load balancing and SSL traffic management.
  • Enterprise Wi-Fi experience with Aruba or HPE wireless solutions.
  • Proficiency with network monitoring packet capture troubleshooting and configuration/change management tools.
  • Clean criminal record check required and must be maintained throughout the contract.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • CCNP or higher networking certification.
  • Azure Network Engineer Associate certification.
  • Aruba or HPE wireless certifications.
  • Check Point or Cisco security certifications.

Special Considerations:

  • All services must be performed on-site primarily at 215 Garry Street Winnipeg Manitoba.
  • Resource must maintain a clean criminal record and may require enhanced background checks.
  • Manitoba will not reimburse or approve billable time for training or upskilling unrelated to core job skills.
  • Overtime work requires prior written approval and is only for exceptional circumstances.
  • Resource must comply with Manitobas security operational standards and governance processes.

Scheduling:

  • Standard work hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm CST (7.25 hours per day).
  • Manitoba statutory holidays are observed and unpaid.
  • Extended working hours may be required occasionally to meet project deadlines subject to approval.
  • The engagement term may last up to 24 months typically starting with a 6-month initial term followed by renewals.
