Job description

Smart.Vet is Now VetWise!

As of August 1, 2025, Smart.Vet became VetWise. While our name has changed, our mission and team remain the same. We're still the trusted company you know, just with a fresh new look and name that better reflects who we are and where we're headed.

About Us:

VetWise is a provider of virtual care services in the veterinary industry, offering innovative solutions to problems facing veterinary professionals.

We are dedicated to collaborating with animal hospitals by enhancing their in-person services, extending care availability and easing the workload on brick-and-mortar practices. Our goal is to support overburdened hospitals by providing patient care when it's needed most, whether during regular hours or after. We’re not here to compete—we're here to collaborate. While we've grown, we maintain a "mom and pop" culture and mentality, valuing personal relationships, and fostering a close-knit, supportive work environment.

The Opportunity:

VetWise is expanding and seeking passionate remote Veterinarians to join our growing Virtual Locum and Virtual Vet Support teams in New Brunswick! As a member of our network, you'll have flexibility to pick up cases and shifts at your discretion, allowing you to work as much or as little as you’d like. Whether you're looking to supplement your current work or take on a more consistent schedule, this opportunity lets you set your own availability while providing essential care to pets and supporting hospitals in need.

Your Role:

  • Provide virtual consultations in collaboration with in-person veterinary teams during regular clinic hours, supporting clinics remotely by assessing patients, reviewing histories, and advising on treatment plans

  • Provide virtual consultations for clients of hospitals in New Brunswick after-hours and on weekends, offering urgent care support as needed

  • Educate pet owners on treatment options, preventive care, and medication use

  • Opportunity to provide care for exotics if desired

Our Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE)

  • Unrestricted license to practice veterinary medicine in New Brunswick

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)

  • A passion for improving access to veterinary care

  • Experience working with exotics is a major plus

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a growing, innovative company that values a "mom and pop" approach to teamwork and relationships

  • Work remotely from the comfort of your home

Schedule

  • Options for Monday-Friday, weekend, daytime, evening, and night shifts available

Location

  • Remote - Registered in the province of New Brunswick

If you are eager to help provide greater access to care for pet owners, while allowing fellow veterinarians across the province to have a healthier work life balance all while never leaving the comfort of your home, this is the opportunity for you! Please submit your resume and answer a few preliminary questions.
