We bring the RCAS mission to life as a Provincial Online Learning School, offering innovative onsite and virtual programming across British Columbia. Reports to: Inclusive Education Coordinator Key Responsibilities: Overview: As the EA, you will play a vital role in carrying out pre-planned lessons and life skills activities that cater to the unique requirements of your students. Your dedication and commitment will be instrumental in helping students with therapy follow-up, engaging them in home learning activities and virtual programming, and collaborating effectively as part of a cohesive team. The children have a range of learning and behavioural needs that require a compassionate and flexible EA. As an EA, you will receive support from therapists, a home learning support teacher, parents, and our Special Education Coordinator. This collaborative environment will enable you to thrive in your role and make a significant difference in the lives of your students. Core Competencies - Model a Christian Walk: Serve as a safe, trusted, and supportive adult, modelling an exemplary Christian walk in speech and action as a living example to the student body. - Foster Student Independence: Provide academic, social, emotional, and spiritual support by skillfully scaffolding tasks to encourage maximum student independence. - Advocate for Inclusion: Actively advocate for student inclusion within the home or community according to the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and create opportunities for students to be meaningfully integrated into the school community.- Develop Self-Advocacy: Guide students in gaining the necessary skills to advocate for their own learning preferences and personal needs. - Provide Unstructured Support: Deliver critical social-emotional and self-regulation supports during transitions and break-times to ensure student well-being outside of formal instruction. - Execute Interventions: Implement specific interventions and supports as mandated by the IEP and School-Based Team (SBT). - Prepare Materials: Assist in preparing lesson materials and adaptations specifically related to identified student needs, as guided by the Teacher or Inclusive Education Coordinator (IEC), if time permits. - Supervise Routines: Supervise learning routines with authority and diligence, following the direction of the parent. - Contribute to IEPs: Attend IEP meetings and provide professional observations and data to inform the development of goals and desired student outcomes. - Collect Evidence of Learning: Gather evidence of student progress to assist teachers in assessment and the generation of IEP progress reports. - Maintain Documentation: Rigorously contribute to logs and data collection for students with behaviour plans or specialized requirements. - Pursue Professional Growth: Proactively develop expertise in specialized areas and pedagogical frameworks, such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL), to support diverse learners. - Engage in Self-Assessment: Conduct regular self-assessments of job performance and maintain a portfolio of evidence regarding personal and professional growth. - Faith Integration: Model a profound love for Christ and students, maintaining a high standard of Christian conduct both during and outside of school hours.
