Our client is a vital backbone of Ontario’s healthcare system and one of the province’s largest accredited home telehealth and community care providers. With over 6,000 clinicians and staff delivering mission-critical nursing, therapy, and personal support services to over 72,000 patients annually, their IT environment directly impacts patient care outcomes.

They are experiencing rapid, meaningful growth and are actively modernizing their digital landscape to transition from traditional architecture to a secure, cloud-first (SaaS) future across 40+ distributed sites spanning Ontario.

General Role Info

• Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time
• Work Model: Hybrid (1–2 days/week in-office in Waterloo, ON)
• The Opportunity: Act as a hands-on "Player-Coach." Leading a tight, high-performing team of 3 specialized direct reports (Cybersecurity, Modern Workplace, and Telecommunications), you will split your time between strategic tech modernization and diving into the trenches when Level 3 engineering escalations arise.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead & Mentor: Manage, coach, and develop a technical team of 3. Foster a highly collaborative, "no-ego" culture focused on responsive service desk delivery and professional growth.
• Modernization Architecture: Direct the evolution of the network from traditional frameworks to cloud-hosted environments, systematically deprecating legacy systems in favor of scalable SaaS solutions.
• Security & Vulnerability Triage: Own the cybersecurity roadmap. Oversee identity management (Entra ID/MFA), endpoint protection tuning (CrowdStrike), vulnerability patching, and annual penetration testing.
• Multi-Site Infrastructure Operations: Ensure seamless WAN/LAN connectivity and network security tracking across 40+ regional sites, supporting massive endpoint environments and mobile device deployments (Intune MDM).
• Vendor & Asset Governance: Manage third-party vendor relationships, hardware lifecycles (CMDB configuration), IT budgets, and technology contracts to guarantee optimal value and system uptime.
• The Escalation Point: Act as the ultimate tier for Level 3 infrastructure and security incidents managed via Jira. Participate in a balanced, multi-week on-call rotation with the broader IT leadership team.

Must Haves

• The Healthcare Factor: Minimum of 4+ years of enterprise IT infrastructure experience specifically within a Healthcare, Home Care, or Hospital network setting. You must intimately understand data integrity requirements and the language of healthcare operations.
• Proven Scale & Leadership: Past success managing teams supporting a highly distributed, non-centralized workforce (ideally 3,000+ endpoints/users).
• Deep Technical DNA: Confidence navigating, configuring, and troubleshooting the following core stack:
• Cloud/Identity: Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Conditional Access, Intune MDM.
• Security & Backup: CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender, Veeam.
• Networking: Cisco Meraki appliances, firewalls, and multi-site configuration.
• Communication & Empathy: Exceptional ability to act as a "translator"—explaining complex security postures or network limitations in plain, clear language to non-technical stakeholders (such as nurses and clinical managers).
• Mobility & Compliance: A valid Ontario driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for occasional travel to regional sites (including rural clinics), physical capability to handle on-site equipment setup (lifting up to 40 lbs), and the ability to pass a comprehensive Criminal Background and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Nice to Haves

• Professional certifications achieved or in progress: CISSP, CISM, CCNP, or Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator Expert.
• Familiarity with ITIL frameworks or SASE tools/architectures.
• Practical experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) backend systems (e.g., AlayaCare or similar platforms).

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $95,000 - $115,000 CAD
• Bonus: 5% Variable Bonus
• Vacation: 4 Weeks Vacation from day one + 10 paid sick days
