Job Description

What if you could redefine what's possible? With us, you can. You want Purpose. Growth. Opportunity. People who get it.

Overview

We are the home of ambitious, passionate, and innovative world shapers.

With an unmatched breadth and depth of engineering, advisory and science‑based expertise, our global minds unite to power local solutions.

We are pathfinders and impact makers. We are Visioneers. We are WSP.

The Opportunity

Build the Future With Us – Shape the safety, performance, and reliability of rail systems that move communities forward.

As our Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Safety (RAMS) Lead, you will guide the development of system assurance strategies across major commuter rail, LRT, subway, and high‑speed rail programs.

In Rail & Transit, our teams have received multiple industry recognitions for innovation, technical excellence, and system integration leadership. Your impact will shape safe, efficient, and future‑ready transportation networks across Canada and beyond.

Your Impact

  • Lead all RAMS activities across complex rail programs, aligning strategies with client, project, and organizational objectives.
  • Develop and implement RAMS Plans, System Safety Plans, hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Drive System Assurance through V‑Lifecycle processes including requirements management, validation & verification, and trial running support.
  • Oversee reliability, maintainability, and LCC modelling to support long‑term asset performance.
  • Guide incident preparedness, emergency/crisis planning, and operational risk acceptance.
  • Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary engineering teams (e.g., Signaling, Rolling Stock, Traction Power, Communications, Civil/Track).
  • Serve as the technical voice for RAMS with clients, regulatory bodies, and project stakeholders.
  • Mentor and develop engineers within the System Assurance discipline, building future expertise across the practice.
  • Influence WSP’s national RAMS framework, advancing tools, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • 10+ years of technical leadership experience in RAMS/System Assurance within rail transit environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline; P.Eng. (or eligibility) required.
  • Deep knowledge of CENELEC, CMREA, MIL‑STD and other system safety standards.
  • Expertise in one or more rail domains: Signaling/Train Control, Electrical/Traction Power, Rolling Stock, Mechanical, or Communications‑Based Systems.
  • Experience developing and delivering hazard logs, RAM modelling, risk matrices, SIL/ASIL assessments, and safety cases.
  • Experience with V‑Model processes, testing & commissioning, reliability demonstration, and system integration.
  • Ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and communicate complex technical issues clearly.
  • Comfortable supporting travel for project and client interface needs.

Why Choose WSP?

  • Proudly Canadian – we are a Top 100 Employer in Canada for 2026.
  • A global community of brilliant minds – your next idea, mentor, or opportunity is always within reach.
  • Limitless opportunities start here. Whether it’s across the country or around the globe, we help you tailor your role to match your ambition — because your growth drives ours.
