  • Hire, train, and mentor craft personnel

  • Develop 90-day, 3-week and daily schedules for crews, equipment and materials.

  • Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover

  • Handle the day to day of the site : problem-solving, quality improvement, cost tracking, maintaining good owner relations

  • Manage contract administration (subcontractor/field management meeting for communication) and act as liaison and coordinator between contractors and craft employees

  • Initiate and attend supplementary and regular meeting with client for problem resolution and planning

  • Build and handle the financial management of the project, monitor daily costs of all time-dependent elements on the project and implications;

  • Administer safety programs, and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and requirements related to Quality Assurance, Occupational Health and Safety, and Environment

Also note that you might need to travel and relocate during your mission if needed.

More details will be given to you during the interviews.

What about you?

Overall, we are looking for reliable engineers with excellent communication skills capable of fostering synergies within their teams.

You’ll be a great fit if :

  • You’re looking for assignments that combine fieldwork, team leadership and project management, allowing you to interact with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders at all levels;
  • You’re motivated to work in a fast-paced environment, where you’ll have to adapt to changing priorities and take initiative to overcome challenges proactively.
  • You can define yourself through strong interpersonal skills, optimism, a can-do attitude and a problem-solving oriented mind to handle the day-to-day life of your perimeter
  • You can demonstrate excellent time management.
  • You rely on excellent organizational, administrative and communication skills.
  • You have graduated with a master’s degree in civil engineering and/or construction and have more than two year-working experience in construction. As such, you have a strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.

  • You show an international mindset which will allow you to enjoy what Canada can offer to the fullest – a previous international experience will be appreciated!
  • You speak fluent English and feel confident communicating in any context—on site, in meetings, or day-to-day—and you're excited about the opportunity to live and work in Canada, making the most of everything it has to offer.
  • You have your driver’s license, and you’re ready to move between sites if needed.

Next steps?

If you like what you’re reading and feel you could be up for the task, let’s meet!

We’ll have a first quick phone encounter to ensure we are aligned on what you’re looking for and what we can offer, before exploring these elements further during a second Teams meeting.

If we are still in step, it will be time for you to meet HR and operational members from the OLRT project.

Welcome aboard!

Pourquoi nous rejoindre ?

Why should you join the OLRT and VINCI Construction as a VIE ?

We’ll give you three reasons why this opportunity might be perfect for you:

  • You're starting your career – Looking for assignments that teach you something new every day?

Thanks to a VIE, what looks like 2 years on a resume is actually worth 5 years of experience. Léa, working in Toronto, says: “I'm learning so much, not only about the job and technical skills, but also about what it’s like to work in Canada. I feel like I’m discovering much more than I would in France at 25.” But if you’re uncomfortable stepping out of your comfort zone, this might not be for you.

  • You need mentors to grow – Looking for a supportive work environment?

You’ll have experienced professionals guiding you and you’ll be part of Young Talents @VINCI Construction, a strong peer network. Thomas in New Zealand shares: “My manager made me feel part of the team from day one, and ensures I progress every day.” But if you prefer working solo and don’t enjoy teamwork, this might not be the right fit.

  • You are looking for an environment which will keep you on your toes, make you wonder what’s the next challenge ahead?

Considered as a fully-fledged member of the OLRT teams, you handle your own projects: it’s your call, your responsibility. Caroline, now on a local contract, says: “If I want more, they give me more.” But if you enjoy a well-oiled routine, you might feel uncomfortable with us.

Check out what our current VIEs have to say:
