Central to realizing the School’s vision is the development of quality, high-level external partnerships with corporate sectors to ensure long-term relationships with the top business firms in the world and Canada. The Career Services team provides support to all graduate level students to ensure they are fully supported in their career planning, professional development and job search activities.
The Corporate Relations Manager reports to the Associate Director, Corporate Relations in Career Services and is an integral part of the unit. The incumbent is responsible for conducting business development initiatives and forging hiring relationships with new companies and with new departments within existing client relationships in Canada and globally. The Corporate Relations Manager engages employers to uncover job opportunities for our students and new graduates and curates new industry programming to attract employers to Rotman, while providing the highest quality of career development services to students. The incumbent will be expected to learn and provide in depth industry knowledge into existing and emerging markets as well as refer potential partnership opportunities to other areas within Rotman. This is primarily an externally facing role with travel expectations both locally and globally for business development, industry conference, and student programming related activities.
The Corporate Relations Manager will support a portfolio covering Technology, Retail/CPG, Start Ups, Media/Sports/Entertainment, and other diversified industries.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Keeping well-informed on recruitment trends and best practices
- Identifying, fostering and maintaining relationships with potential and existing employers
- Analyzing and recommending actions to increase employers' visibility
- Implementing plans and process improvements for employer engagement activities
- Promoting programming, student needs and interests to employers and industry contacts; promoting employer jobs and engagement on campus with students
- Facilitating educational workshops and seminars, and advising students on employment options and strategies to achieve their career goals
- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance, and probing for information from employers to establish activities that best meet student learning needs
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum five (5) years full-time, relevant, progressively more senior experience within the Technology, Retail/CPG, Start Ups, Media/Sports/Entertainment or other diversified industry sectors, preferably in human resources, recruitment, or other related field
- Knowledge of career services industry and university recruitment is required
- Experience in marketing, developing marketing strategies and promotional materials
- Possesses a deep, as well as broad, understanding of diversified market sector and career development withinsector; knowledge of industry career options, trends and opportunities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong emphasis on influencing others
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills and the ability to lead large group presentations; ability to utilize new technology
- Proven ability to organize and handle a variety of projects, deadlines and schedules simultaneously and under minimal supervision
- Must have a good understanding of business students and employment markets, and job search skills
- Outstanding customer service focus is essential; able to work effectively with a wide variety of people at different levels of the University and with external stakeholders
- Strong computer skills; strong working knowledge of MS Office
- Experience in marketing, developing marketing strategies and promotional materials
- Travel within the GTA, Canada and globally is required
- Ability to work outside of normal office hours for event support
