Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

SEASIDE 2025 MARI Ocean Technology for the Observation and Conversation of Marine Species – Summer 2025

The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching the field and lab intensive MARI “Ocean Technology for the Observation and Conversation of Marine Species”. The course will be offered during the Summer session, August 14 – August 30, 2025, Monday through Friday, approx. 0905-1655. Responsibilities include all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including lectures, field trips, test preparation, and evaluation of tests and reports. The part-time academic will also be responsible for preparing a budget in consultation with the program director and keeping field-related expenses within the approved budget. In addition, the part-time academic may be asked to drive students in vehicles rented by the university. The part-time academic should expect to spend considerable time before and after the official course dates preparing and marking. Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus, or out on field trips if appropriate. This position reports to the Chair of the department.

Qualifications / Requirements of Position

A graduate degree in Biology or related field and research experience directly related to the topic of the course. Preference will be given to candidates possessing a and / or previous university teaching experience in the subject of the course.
