Hays Civil Construction in Toronto has partnered with our client to hire a Heavy Civil Superintendent. The Heavy Civil Superintendent will lead a key project in downtown Toronto.Your newpanyThe business brings over 50 years of experience as a leading General Contractor in Ontario. They are focused on sewers and watermains, transportation, dry utilities, road reconstruction, bridges, marine, concrete forming, environmental remediation, shoring, concrete forming, and treatment plants/ pumping stations.Your new RoleAs the Heavy Civil Superintendent, you day to day will be the following: Supervise and direct construction projects in strict accordance with the contract documents, and industry best practices; Ensure verification of safetypliance with all labour forces including subcontractors; Ensure all daily reports including: daily journals, Health and Safety documentation and maintenance records arepleted at all times; Responsible to enforce all project safety and quality-control policies; Day-to-day coordination of construction crews, owned equipment, rented equipment, material supply and subcontractors, including maintenance of satisfactory relationships with owners, subcontractors, unions; Analyze specifications and construction drawings andplete/participate inpleting construction plan and construction schedule prior to mobilization to project site; Monitor project site, to ensurepliance with owner’s standards, design procedures, contract specifications and industry best practices; Research solutions with Project Managers and Project Coordinators to rmend solutions to design problems, including conflicts, unidentified existing interferences and errors/omissions; Plan and implement schedules with Project Managers and Project Coordinators to determine crew/workforce levels and ensure proper equipment and subcontractors are available as required for the project; Attend and from time-to-time lead project meetings with internal and external parties to monitor and support the project; Review up-to-date cost reports with the Project Manager to analyze, determine solutions and correct any tasks that are not within budget;plete additional assignments and responsibilities as requested by the Vice President, Construction and/or Senior Management; The main objective of the Construction Site Superintendent will be to deliver the specified work within time, within budget and to the desired level of quality and quality construction.What you’ll need to SucceedTo succeed as the Heavy Civil Superintendent, you will bring an Engineering Degree (Civil Engineering preferred), or Construction Management Degree and civil experience; you will bring 9+ years' experience in Heavy Civil Construction, with 5+ years' experience in an Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent capacity. You will be a solidmunicator who is passionate about leading crews safely. You will have a valid Ontario Driver's License.
