HR Project Partners is currently recruiting an Innu Employment Coordinator on behalf of our Client, Vale. This is a permanent position, working a Monday to Friday schedule with regular travel to the Voisey’s Bay Mine Site and Innu communities within Labrador.
As an Innu Employment Coordinator, you will play an integral part in supporting the hiring and
training preferences for Innu Nation Members. The primary objective of the role is to ensure
that qualified Indigenous candidates are given first consideration for all employment and
training opportunities at the Voisey’s Bay Mine Site as it relates to the Impacts and Benefits
Agreement (IBA) with Innu Nation.
You must be an Innu Nation member to be considered for this role.
Essential Job Functions :
- Assist with recruitment efforts to hire Innu Nation members for job openings and training opportunities at the Voisey’s Bay Mine Site.
- Assist the Talent Acquisition team and site Contractors in identifying qualified Indigenous employees.
- Attend all Innu candidate’s interviews to ensure comfort, accuracy and consistency in the recruitment and selection process; and provide translation in Innu Amun to candidates where necessary.
- Assist in coordinating and facilitating events onsite in Voisey’s Bay and Innu communities.
- Network with Innu Nation in the Innu communities to source interested candidates.
- Identify barriers for Innu employees and use that information to maintain and improve the Innu Employee retention rate.
- Travel to Innu communities to visit schools, hold public meetings regarding work, environmental issues, winter shipping, and any other topics the community would like to discuss regarding the Voisey’s Bay Mine Site.
Education and Experience Requirements :
University related to community studies, business management, or a related field of study.3 years’ experience in a related position, preferably within community studies.Experience working in an industrial workplace is considered an asset.Previous experience in a fly in / fly out environment is considered an asset.Knowledge, Skills, & Attributes :
Must have a good working relationship with the Innu community.Must be fluent in English.High degree of sensitivity to cultural diversity in the workforce.Committed to the employment and educational development of Innu Nationmembers.Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.Self-motivated and able to work independently and unsupervised as required.Strong communication and report writing skills.Knowledge of the Impacts and Benefits Agreement and process would be an asset.Good computer skills are required (Word, Excel and Power Point).Ability to work in remote sites, travel to remote communities, and work extendedhoursHow to Apply :
