Duties
TC’s Emergency Management Branch monitors and prepares for threats to Canada's transportation system. Collaborating with TC groups, other departments, and industry, they ensure readiness for emergencies. Recognizing transportation as critical infrastructure, they develop and deliver emergency management programs, activities, and plans, and provide operational responses using the four Emergency Management pillars in the Emergency Management Act.
More specifically, the Emergency Management Operations Branch has various positions that include three (3) different streams. Each stream has a different titles including multiple responsibilities.
Streams :
(1) Analyst & Compliance Officer—Passenger Protect Program Operations Centre
(2) Intelligence Analyst, Operational Support—Transport Canada Situation Centre
(3) Contingency Operations Officer—Aviation Operations
Work environment
Our work schedule features a hybrid model of 24 / 7 / 365 shift work that requires physical presence at our office at 330 Sparks Street. Some positions have shifts featuring remote work from home to complete special projects for various Modes (Aviation, Rail, and Marine) and other internal partners.

When someone applies to an inventory, the Jobs.gc.ca system will automatically screen you in the inventory if you answer yes to all essential experiences and education. When the system retrieves your application in the inventory, it will randomly choose applicants with a screened-in status. If and when an applicant is randomly chosen through the request from the hiring manager, they will assess each of your answers on how you meet the experiences and education. With this specific inventory, you are eligible to be reassessed after six months, allowing you to update your answers and add information at any time. One or more pools of qualified candidates will be established and used to staff various positions of various tenures and / or various linguistic requirements within Transport Canada.

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience.
An acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience includes two (2) years of high school with two (2) years of relevant experience and / or training.
EXPERIENCE
EX1 : Experience in conducting research, analyzing complex information
EX2 : Experience in collaborative or consultation work, such as participating in work meetings and / or working groups or working in interdisciplinary groups.
EX3 : Experience working in a fast-paced and high stress environment OR experience working in an Operations Centre
EX4 : Experience building and maintaining working relationships with internal

ASSETS QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
AED : Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
EXPERIENCE
AEX1 : Experience working in emergency preparedness and / or emergency situations.
AEX2 : Experience monitoring media, including electronic press, newspaper, social media, radio, and / or television.
AEX3 : Experience developing emergency management, national security, or operational training exercises.
AEX4 : Experience working in an aviation-related environment or a regulatory aviation-related environment.
AEX5 : Experience working in a marine-related environment or a regulatory marine-related environment.
AEX6 : Experience working in a rail-related environment or a regulatory rail-related environment.
AEX7 : Experience working in the field of motor vehicle safety.
