Status : Temporary, Full Time (8 months - 1 year contract)

We are looking for a highly motivated Finance Intern to join our Finance Team. Reporting into the Director, Financial Reporting & Planning, the Intern will get the opportunity to learn and develop their skills in all facets of the Finance function.

You will :

  • Support the monthly forecasting process through the generation of key financial reports, templates, and models
  • Monitor bank account balances and escalate to senior team members if a transfer is necessary
  • Assist with bank reconciliations to identify differences between financial records and bank balances
  • Maintain fixed asset depreciation schedules for computer hardware and office equipment monthly
  • Support the accounts payable function at the Foundation. This means you will work with internal stakeholders to process their payments, and with external vendors to ensure new vendor information is accurately maintained within our accounting system; external vendors are paid on time; invoices are accurately coded and possess the appropriate approvals; ensure all relevant support is stored digitally.
  • Assist with purchase card reviews and processing for payment
  • Prepare and post journal entries along with other month end closing processes
  • Support the external audit by retrieving documents, compiling reports and answering questions posed by the auditors
  • Support internal stakeholders with inquiries or report requests
  • Assist in ad-hoc requests and projects as directed by management

Qualifications

  • Enrolled or recently completion of a university or college degree in accounting, finance, or business
  • Experience in an office environment, particularly in an accounting / finance function
  • Understanding of intermediate accounting principles
  • Intermediate level ability in Microsoft Excel (Lookup formulas, Pivot Tables)
  • High attention to detail
  • A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to handle competing tasks from various stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to respond to inquiries
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
