The Marketing and Business Development Intern will support Gentiam’s efforts to identify, research, and engage potential customers in the industrial markets, with a focus on hybrid and electric solutions.
This role is ideal for a recent graduate or an intern student seeking hands-on experience in market research and business development.
The right candidate will play a key role in building and maintaining the sales pipeline, assisting with prospecting activities, and helping the Gentiam team qualify potential customer opportunities.
This role would be perfectly suited for students or early-career professionals looking to enhance their understanding of the marketing, business development, and sales activities of an Engineering and Technology focused company in its early stages.
Duties and Responsibilities
Market Research : Conduct in-depth research to identify target companies and opportunities within the industrial markets, with a focus on powertrain electrification, and hybrid electric solutions.
Data Collection & Analysis : Categorize and prioritize target companies based on industry trends, market size, and potential business fit.
Use data-driven methods to assess the attractiveness of prospects against a tiered criteria list.
Postmortem Analysis : Develop comprehensive analyses and postmortem reports on business development initiatives
Lead Generation : Support the outreach process by identifying key contacts within target companies using LinkedIn and other tools to initiate engagement and begin qualifying opportunities.
Pipeline Process Development : Assist in maintaining accurate records of leads, prospects, and engagement progress using the tools and systems available within Gentiam.
Prepare reports and provide data driven insights based on research and outreach outcomes.
Collaboration : Work closely with the Gentiam team members to align research findings, optimize the efficacy of the pipeline process, and contribute to discussions about market expansion, segment targeting and customer engagement strategies.
Other : Perform additional duties as required
Knowledge and Skills
Strong ability to conduct thorough market and company research, analyze data, and present findings clearly and concisely.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for outreach efforts and internal collaboration. Experience with LinkedIn and other networking tools is a plus.
Office software tools experience, Google suite or Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with CRM systems (e.
g., HubSpot, Salesforce) is preferred. Willingness to utilize AI tools, other database tools or software as required.
Able to work in a self-directed way, take high level direction and plan and structure activities accordingly
Willingness to work across different time zones, to include North America and European communications. Flexibility in the work day needed.
Some understanding or interest in electric propulsion, hybrid electric solutions and electrification of industrial grids or systems is preferred but not required.
Comfortable in startup work environments and ambiguity, requiring flexibility and agile problem solving
Familiarity with B2B marketing, especially in high-tech sectors like aerospace or automotive.
Education required
Enrolled in a University program and working toward the completion of their 3rd year or higher of a 4-year program or 4th year or higher of a 5-year program.
This role is ideal for students who are studying Business, Communications, Marketing, Market Research, Economics or Engineering.
Experience or coursework in market research, sales, and business strategy in a technical or engineering-driven industry.
Duration : 4-8 months assignment, full-time
