Department Overview

Our products leverage cutting-edge voice technology, language models, natural language understanding, video analytics, and machine learning to enable our customers to focus on what matters while providing faster responses, safer outcomes and greater transparency. The candidate will join a talented team of scientists and developers (located in Chicago, Boston, Vancouver and Krakow) in the Chief Technology Office at Motorola Solutions working on developing AI solutions for our public safety and commercial customers. Our mission is to provide meaningful value to MSI’s customers by developing domain-specific applications and services in the areas of Speech & Audio, Machine Translation, and Natural Language Understanding. Our AI team is focused on all aspects of 1) Designing, prototyping and developing solutions (e.g. algorithms and architectures for language processing and human-computer interactions), 2) Machine learning training and optimization (e.g. distributed training and inference acceleration) and 3) Data (e.g. tools for data acquisition and annotation – both human and machine-powered, data pipelines and supporting ML infrastructure). And, of course, one of our many toolsets is the exploding field of Large Language Models and all of the engineering and scientific consequences of these exciting new technologies. Your work will directly impact our customers in the form of products and services that make use of language and video technology. Unlike similar roles in the industry, the result of your work has the potential to impact the entire lifecycle of the public safety workflow impacting people's lives in moments that matter. Founded on our many years of public safety experience and knowledge, we know the mission-critical needs of our customers are unique and different from the consumer technologies that leverage AI today.## Job DescriptionYou will join the Language & Audio group where you will be building machine learning solutions for our public safety and commercial security customers. Your work will impact all aspects of the machine learning cycle, from data curation to model training to deployment to monitoring and feedback.

Responsibilities :

Develop machine learning solutions for public safety and commercial security applications.

Work across all stages of the machine learning lifecycle, including data curation, model training, deployment, monitoring, and feedback.

Focus on application areas such as speech-to-text systems, video captioning, natural language processing, summarization, and search over public safety data.

Collaborate with infrastructure engineers and research scientists to build scalable machine learning products.

Create reusable components to support integration between research teams and production engineering.

Required Skills

3+ years of combined experience as a software developer and / or a post-graduate degree in a quantitative science or engineering

Previous experience using Python in a software development project

Previous experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployments

Strong written and oral communication skills in English

Desired Skills

Experience with cloud-based infrastructure : Azure, AWS and / or GCP

Experience using version control and agile collaboration methodology

Experience with using CI / CD pipelines to build, test, deploy and scale Python services
