KCDSB invites applications for the following position at St. John Paul II School in Kenora Hourly Wage: $26.04 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay) Casual Nutrition Program Assistant Are you eager and motivated to model what healthy relationships and nutrition-based programming look like with children? This is an exciting opportunity within St. John Paul II School community for a caring role model who is passionate about working with different groups of people. As a casual Nutrition Program Assistant is responsible for food service activities including preparation and service, maintaining food preparation area, equipment, facilities, and services to ensure a clean and sanitary environment. You will prepare, coordinate, and deliver daily meals and/or snack service to students as well as being responsible for the planning and receiving of food orders while maintaining appropriate inventory management processes. Maintain a clean and sanitary standard for food preparation area, appliances, utensils, and equipment, and maintain hygienic and safe standards. Casual Nutrition Program Assistants work on an on call “as needed” basis and accept assignments as they become available, which can often be on short notice. As a casual Nutrition Program Assistant, you will have the opportunity to apply for permanent and long-term occasional positions, as they become available throughout the school year. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Healthy Menu planning Prepare, coordinate, and deliver daily meal and/or snack service to students Oversee daily operation of the kitchen Maintain clean and sanitary standards for food preparation area, appliances, utensils, and equipment, and maintain hygienic and safe standards Oversee and manage food costs, including ordering, production, and weekly inventory Plan and receive food orders while maintaining appropriate inventory management processes Prepping and preparing food Participate in health and safety training as needed and actively promote health and safety policies of the Kenora Catholic District School BoardThe minimum qualifications include: Valid NWHU Safe Food Handling certification Knowledge of safety, sanitation and food storage Knowledge of basic cooking skills and techniques Ability to communicate effectively Experience working with children and diverse communities is an asset Must be able to work independently and alone at timesAdditional qualifications could include: Valid Standard First Aid and CPR ‘C' certification Additional work/volunteer experience in a school setting is an asset Valid Driver's license In your application, please include a cover letter and resume outlining your qualifications and any relevant work/volunteer experience.
