Job description

The College is currently seeking a dynamic individual for the position of In-Community Indigenous Support Coordinator (Counsellor I). When you work at NBCC, you are a valued team member and a part of a community of leaders who are driven by learning excellence and social and economic development.Position Type: Term to December 2026Location: Tobique First Nations (Neqotkuk)Salary: $2,262 to $2,734 bi-weekly Responsibilities As part of the Academic, Innovation and Student Affairs division, and reporting to the Academic Chair of Arts and Community Services, the In-Community Indigenous Support Coordinator (Counsellor I) will provide students with culturally responsive support and coaching services for the in-community Social Services Community Worker (NBCC) Program. Moreover, the Support Coordinator will jointly liaise with the Neqotkuk Child and Family Services Steering Committee.Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:Work closely with the NBCC Academic Chair, School of Arts and Community, Instructor, and the Neqotkuk Child and Family Services Steering committee to support the program.Work closing with Neqotkuk SSCW Steering Committee to plan and respond to needs of students, instructors, facility etc. Organize regular meetings with the Steering Committee to provide updates, concerns, progress, etc., setting the agenda and other meeting logistics.Ensure the Wolastoqey perspective and voice in the program planning process.Create strong relationships with students and faculty to establish a safe, productive learning environment.Collaborate with NBCC Student Services to best support student success.Help students to keep up to date with assignments.Attend classes and support the instructor and students, when needed.Proactively refer students to the appropriate student support services based on their individual needs. Qualifications Education and Experience:Diploma or Degree in the field of Social Sciences or Education with relevant field experience.Preference may be given to candidates with 3 years of recent and related experience.Demonstrated experience with program coordination and coaching will be considered an asset.Preference may be given to candidates who have worked within Indigenous Child and Family services.Excellent knowledge of the Wolastoqey culture, the legacies of colonialism, and the impacts on the community will be considered an asset.Working Knowledge proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.Professional Skills:Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.Self-motivated, service and results oriented.Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.A desire for continuous learning and growth.Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.Candidates must possess a valid Driver's License as travel will be required.Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a post-secondary environment.Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent.
