Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Manager Health Services and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital the Pulmonary Technologist is responsible for the organization and operating of the Pulmonary Function Laboratory (PFT); providing clinical expertise to the Technician and students; ensuring that the standards of patient care are being provided by both staff and students working in the PFT lab; assessing how disease has affected the Cardio-Pulmonary System by conducting various Cardio-Pulmonary testing; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Experience
- 2 years’ experience as a Pulmonary Technician or as a Registered Respiratory Therapist required.
- Demonstrated clinical proficiency.
- Previous supervisory experience an asset.
Education (Degree / Diploma / Certificate)
Successful completion of a recognized Pulmonary Technologist training program.Post-secondary education preferred B.Sc., B.A.If there are no applicants meeting the qualifications, the employer may consider an applicant who does not meet the above qualifications.
Certification / Licensure / Registration
Valid license with MB Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists (MARRT) or Manitoba Respiratory Therapy Regulatory Body.Registered and in good standing with the Canadian Association of Cardio-Pulmonary Technologists (CACPT) or will challenge and pass the CACPT examination within 2 years of hire.Current Basic Life Support (BLS).Qualifications and Skills
