Competition #26-34The Delores D. Echum Composite School (DDECS) invites applications from qualified teachers to commence employment for the 2026-2027 school year. We are a First Nations school located in northern Ontario, in western James Bay, with an enrollment of 130+ students in Grades 7-12. The School is located in Moose Cree First Nation on Moose Factory Island, with a population of over 3,000, and is accessible by boat during the open-water season and by ice road in the winter. QUALIFICATIONS Current registration and in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) Minimum Bachelor of Education Degree Qualifications in Technology Education (Trades/Shop Teacher)REQUIREMENTS/ABILITIES Submit cover letter with application package Submit copies of all credentials, if not yet registered with OCT Submit a current Police Record Check with vulnerable sector check or proof of application First Aid/CPR certification or willing to obtain within a reasonable period Strong communication skills required for working with students, parents, and staff members Ability to work as a member of a professional team Willingness to participate in the school learning philosophy Ability to adapt curriculum to meet a range of learning styles and abilities Ability to deliver appropriate Individual Education Plans within classroom A willingness to be flexible in teaching assignments A willingness to live in a remote community and participate as a member of the community Knowledge and sensitivity to the history, culture, traditions, and aspirations of First Nations people and experience in working in a multicultural setting Start Date: August 26, 2026Salary: Up to $120,140.00 annually, based on OSSTF/QECO rating Duration: Permanent position, with probation period of 1 or 2 years based on experience WHAT WE OFFER:A competitive salary based on qualifications and experience, immediate and matching contribution to Ontario Teacher's Pension Plan, plus travel and Cree Language allowance.
