Licensed Practical Nurse

Your Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists for a Licensed Practical Nurse looking to work to their full-scope of practice and whom has a passion for providing patient- and family-centered care at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, located in the community of Fort McMurray.As our LPN, you will be working in a position primarily in Day Surgery, but will be trained in Pre- Admission Clinic. You will work within an interdisciplinary team, utilizing our values (AHS Cares) and Patient First Strategy in your practice to provide leading care to Albertans. Our Operating Room has the capacity for six (6) theatres, covering general surgery, gynecology and obstetrics, dental, ear, nose and throat, spines, and orthopedic trauma. Our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit has capacity for eight (8) monitoring beds. Our Day Surgery has 13 beds. The Day Surgery LPN is responsible for providing pre- and post-operative patient care using the nursing process, in accordance with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). You will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective and efficient care in all settings, participating as an integral part of our team. You will act as a patient advocate and provide a link between the other units in the facility and the Operating Room and/or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. Through your education, experience, knowledge of current principles, techniques and procedures, and interpretation of evidence-based healthcare practices and processes, you will play a key role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to the patient’s care, health promotion and health maintenance. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Previous experience in a Day Surgery unit or acute care setting.
