Job description

Reporting to the Director of Communications, Marketing, the Social Media Manager will be a key member of the GFL Marketing Team responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and execution of GFL’s social media activities.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Craft compelling, engaging and varied written content for all of GFL’s social media platforms, in line with the company’s brand voice
  • Create and manage a monthly social media content calendar aligned with GFL’s company goals
  • Oversee the Marketing’s Team social media workflow
  • Manage scheduling and deployment of all social media content
  • Coordinate translation of social media content
  • In collaboration with the GFL Digital Marketing Team, inform the strategic direction of GFL’s social media activities in line with the organization’s business goals
  • Explore opportunities for new features and content
  • Stay up-to-date with social media trends, tools, and best practices, and implement them accordingly
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across GFL to develop social content, including campaigns
  • Monitor front end activities including notifications, comments, and successful deployment to all channels
  • Analyze social media metrics and performance data to optimize content strategy
  • Assist the Director of Communications with strategic planning for GFL’s communications channels
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies :

  • Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in communications, marketing, content writing or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a professional communications, copy writing, social media or content writing role
  • Proven experience in social media management or coordination
  • Exceptional writing, language, and proofreading skills, strong attention to detail
  • Clear and effective communicator
  • Creative, resourceful storyteller
  • Able to handle a fast-paced environment and work to tight deadlines
  • Strong sense of initiative and drive, excellent organizational skills, able to work independently or in a team
  • Project management skills an asset
  • Supervisory experience an asset
  • Must be able to work remotely
