Altis Recruitment is grateful to support an organization wtihin the Broader Public Sector to support the recruitment of an Aviation Quality Assurance and Operations Manager.

This is a permanent opportunity, working in a hybrid capacity, working 3x / week on-site in Mississauga and 2x / week remotely.

This position entails leading the creation, implementation, maintenance, and oversight of aviation safety management systems, as well as the related Quality Assurance program.

This role is also responsible for leading an internal team, along with developing and maintaining relationships both internally and externally, to support the successful implementation of the program and ensuring compliance with legislation.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of leadership experience, with subject matter expertise in aviation operations.

This position offers 4 weeks vacation, benefits from day one and a pension matching program. Key Accountabilities :

  • Direct the design, execution, monitoring, and ongoing enhancement of the aviation safety management system program.
  • Develop and manage a system to capture safety concerns, analyze incidents and accidents, and implement corrective actions while providing feedback to employees.
  • Continuously refine the Quality Assurance (QA) program related to SMS components.
  • Foster and sustain relationships with partners, leading regular meetings to review program health and compliance matters.
  • Generate and present progress and program health reports to senior management and the accountable executive.
  • Suggest modifications to operational policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Guide and nurture a team committed to collaboration and excellence.
  • Contribute to national and international regulatory discussions to shape SMS development.

Qualifications :

  • 5+ years of Operations experience with regulations, Safety Management Systems, and Quality Assurance Program Management (ideally within Aviation).
  • 2+ years of leadership experience with people management, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Degree or diploma in a relevant field or equivalent education and / or work experience.
  • Ability to obtain and retain security clearance.
