About the position

Duties

  • Working supervisor of a team up to six workers responsible for cleaning and basic maintenance of park facilities. Supervising includes scheduling, leave approval, workflow, assigning tasks, ensuring safety protocols are followed, monitoring quality standards and performing feedback to team members.
  • Organize, prepare and conduct semi-skilled and general maintenance and repair to maintain facilities, structures, equipment, machinery, infrastructure, utilities, and other assets. Work environment

Bruce Peninsula National Park (BPNP) and Fathom Five National Marine Park (FFNMP) are located at the northern tip of the Saugeen (Bruce) Peninsula, within the territory of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation Anishinabek.

Bruce Peninsula National Park features dramatic cliffs plunging into the turquoise waters of Georgian Bay, vast forests, and diverse habitats that support black bears, rare reptiles, ancient cedar trees, and unique orchids and ferns.

Fathom Five National Marine Park, Canada’s first national marine park, is renowned for its deep freshwater ecosystem, striking rock formations, cliff-top forests, historic shipwrecks, and rare orchid species.

Together, these parks protect rich and complex ecosystems at the heart of the Great Lakes. Each year, they welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors seeking adventure, inspiration, and a deeper connection with nature. Intent of the process

Reliability Status security clearance - Possession of a valid class G2 or G driver’s licence.

Operational Requirements

  • Wear a Parks Canada uniform as per the uniform policy.
  • Work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and / or statutory holidays and provincial / territorial holidays, including standby and call-outs when required.
  • Work and travel in a range of environments, including varied terrain, weather conditions, and occasionally remote or isolated locations, using different modes of transportation.
  • Obtain and maintain required certifications, such as WHMIS, First Aid / CPR, Canadian Firearms Safety, and certifications for operating ground vehicles (e.g., all terrain vehicles) and motorized and non motorized marine vessels
  • Undergo and meet the requirements of a pre‑placement and periodic health evaluation as outlined in the Parks Canada Occupational Health Monitoring Program

    Experience :

  • Building construction / maintenance (e.g. new construction, renovations, repairs).
  • General maintenance or cleaning (e.g. trails, landscaping, grounds, facilities)
  • Operation and maintenance of grounds machinery and tools
  • Working in a team environment or supervising staff
  • Using computers and programs (examples include Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word)
  • Language requirements (essential for the job)
