THE ROLE : We are a forward-thinking firmware-focused team dedicated to advancing Data Center Processing Units and Machine Intelligence Processing Units. Our team is passionate about power and performance management on GFX computing, Machine learning, covering a spectrum of responsibilities from hardware and firmware design emulation, design validation, issue debugging, to silicon enablement and production. The successful candidate will take a leadership role in GFX computing, instruction handling, power and performance feature design and development. Responsibilities include collaboration with graphic hardware, driver and firmware designers and architects, ownership of GFX computing, power and performance hardware and firmware features, development and delivery of comprehensive test plans, validation plans, enablement plans, and execution of silicon bring-up. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to prototyping innovative ideas and designs for the next generation of computing technologies. Throughout the ASIC life cycle, the right candidate will engage in activities up to RTL, DV simulation and Emulation, taking charge of on-silicon feature enablement and testing. Further responsibilities include maintaining and supporting the firmware repository and release. THE PERSON : Qualities desired for a successful candidate include mutually supportive team working, critical and deep thinking, relentless determination, leadership and managing skills, as well as execution and communicative skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Develop and execute feature verification, enablement and test plans for SOC power and performance management features Develop firmware functions and features for embedded microcontrollers in C Debug, troubleshoot system-level issues related to computing , power and performance features Prototype innovative ideas and designs Support test automation infrastructure and develop test scripts Proactively drive continuous improvement in all areas of activity PREFERRED EXPERIENCE : Extensive experience working in the semiconductor industry In depth understanding of digital electronics and CMOS devices Expert in developing and debugging system hardware and software or firmware for embedded systems Experience with FPGA emulation for VLSI systems Excellent knowledge of C, C++ and Python language, experienced in programming in assembly code. Extensive laboratory experience, including familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc. Good understanding of computer organization / architecture Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills Software and driver working experience would be helpful Security / cryptography experience would be an asset Strong analytical skills and pronounced attention to details Must be a self-starter, and able to independently drive tasks to completion ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS : Bachelor or Master's degree in electrical / computer engineering or computer science LOCATION : Markham, ON, Canada This role is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship. #LI-CB1 #LI-Remote #LI-Hybrid Benefits offered are described : AMD benefits at a glance.
