Job description

Earn $17.50/hour with a .50c time increase every 6 months plus bonus and benefits

If you love delicious meals and you want to learn the ins-and outs of an eCommerce business as one of the first employees for the Canadian operations, you will love it here. You will be set up for an exciting career path from day one with cross-functional training, including site opening and closing, order fulfillment, and food preparation. With steady hours, the stability of an established organization in the grocery industry, this is the role to consider.

The opportunity

Our client, a food-tech company, founded on a mission to nourish people at a lower cost, a better value, and a greater selection, has a vision to bring the best to your kitchens. As they scale, they are looking for new team members who share their passion for food, customer experience, and quality to join them as eCommerce Fulfillment Associates (working 40 hours/week).

You will ensure customers receive the highest quality product, accurately filling their orders and providing a seamless experience.

A small portion of each shift will be spent moving orders and stock in/out of cold storage walk-in space. Of course, it can be cold, even if for a few mins per shift, but you will be provided with the right gear to stay warm!

What’s in it for you

Operational, culinary, and functional training. You will participate in six+ weeks of paid orientation sessions covering the ins and outs of retail operations, as well as everything from company culture and brand to processes and the details of multiple positions onsite as well as food-focused training with the corporate head chef.

Stability and flexibility. You will be the newest team member at a financially stable, flourishing brand with a robust US presence, embarking on a new launch in Canada. You will gain insights into growing an eCommerce business, and the doors that open up to you as a result.

Career growth. Starting with the company early on, you will rapidly become a cross-trained subject matter expert, gaining insights into the operations of an eCommerce company and opening/closing sites. You will expand your skills, work across the functions, and assist with training new hires. You will be optimally positioned to move into a Team Lead or Store Manager role as needed, and over into other areas of supply chain and logistics as operations grow.

What you will do:

  • Pick and pack. You will review printed on online customer orders for same day shipping and retrieve accurate, best quality products from storage racks and coolers.
  • Inspect. You will visually survey products and follow proper procedures to reduce or eliminate product damage. You will rotate stock and ensure it is in the proper temp environment.
  • Inventory management. You will receive and stock all perishable products from outside vendors and other storage facilities; and ensure accurate count and notifying appropriate personnel of unusual situations.
  • Meet KPIs and quality standards. You will work efficiently, take direction from your manager and ensure all outgoing shipments meet company standards and our customers receive the highest quality product, every time.

What you bring:

  • Experience . You are familiar with a retail or distribution centre environment and comfortable working in a cold space as needed. You are comfortable using basic software. You can balance customer orders with the needs of the business.
  • Stamina . You understand the physical demand of lifting and carrying up to 50lbs at a time repeatedly, working upright, and moving from one area to another throughout your shift.
  • Determination . You are committed to delivering superior results and adopting a sense of urgency to make things happen. You are results-focused, punctual, and show initiative and accountability.
  • Growth mindset . You are open to new ideas and processes and motivated to take on new challenges. You can adapt to and apply feedback, learn new things quickly and share your knowledge with your team.
  • Humble . You work collaboratively and respectfully as part of a team (even in a freezer set at -20). You have flexible and effective communication skills. You listen and act with thoughtfulness. You respect the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of your peers and prioritize the team over yourself.
  • Flexibility . You are available to work 40 hours a week across different shifts, including weekends, evenings, and early mornings.
  • Passion . You have a love of food. You are excited to be part of a team making an impact on Canadians - and having fun doing it.

Why join

This is a company that respects and cares for their people, the plates in front of customers, and the planet. With strong values prioritizing quality above others, they are transforming the grocery experience.

You will have access to an array of benefits including:

  • Paid vacation time
  • Health, dental and vision benefits
  • Access to ongoing industry training
  • RRSP matching scheme
  • Quarterly bonus of up to $2hr

If you share a commitment to better food at better prices and want to be part of building a brand and success in Canada, let us know. And, while we can’t promise everyone an interview, if you feel you have 70% of the qualifications and 100% of the passion, express your interest.

Our client is an equal opportunity employer that celebrates diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. If you require accommodation in the recruitment process, please let us know.
