Social Media Marketing Officer
Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Social Media Marketing Officer to join our team. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial 1-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary in the range of $51,850-$61,000 and benefits. This role will require 4 days in office and 1 day remote.

The Social Media Marketing Officer is responsible for growing and managing Human Appeal Canada’s social media presence across existing and emerging platforms. This role focuses on content planning, community engagement, influencer partnerships, and launching new channels such as TikTok and Reddit.
This role is ideal for someone with 2–3 years of experience who is energetic, confident, and deeply plugged into social trends. The ideal candidate is an initiative-taker who is comfortable being the face behind conversations—engaging with creators, influencers, community members, and partners—while helping Human Appeal reach new audiences in authentic and creative ways.

Social Media Management & Growth
- Manage day-to-day posting, scheduling, and community engagement across social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, .
- Support the launch, testing, and growth of new platforms such as TikTok, Reddit, and emerging channels.
- Monitor platform trends, formats, and best practices and apply them in a timely and relevant way.
- Ensure content aligns with brand voice, campaign messaging, and fundraising priorities.
- Actively engage with followers, respond to comments and messages, and foster a positive online community.
Content Planning & Trend Execution
- Identify social trends, viral formats, sounds, and conversation opportunities relevant to the charity space.
- Collaborate with internal teams to translate campaigns into platform-appropriate content.
- Support content ideation, captions, hooks, and storytelling for short-form and long-form content.
- Recommend creative formats such as reels, carousels, UGC, behind-the-scenes, and field-led storytelling.
Influencer & Creator Management
- Source, research, and outreach to influencers, creators, and community voices aligned with the brand.
- Build and manage ongoing relationships with influencers and content partners.
- Coordinate influences deliverables, timelines, and content approvals.
- Support influence-led campaigns for fundraising, awareness, and events.
- Track influences performance and impact on engagement and reach.
Community & Relationship Management
- Act as a brand ambassador in digital spaces, engaging confidently with creators, partners, and audiences.
- Participate in relevant community conversations, forums, and platform-specific discussions (including Reddit where appropriate).
- Support comment moderation and community guidelines in line with brand values.
Campaign & Event Support
- Support social execution for major campaigns (Ramadan, Emergency Appeals, Events, .
- Attend events or activations when required to capture real-time content.
- Coordinate with marketing and events teams to amplify on-ground initiatives.
Analytics & Performance Tracking
- Track social media performance includes reach, engagement, follower growth, and content performance.
- Share insights on what content and platforms are performing best.
- Support optimization of content strategy based on data and learnings.
Skills & Experience
- 2–3 years of experience in social media marketing or digital content roles.
- Strong understanding of major social platforms and emerging channels (Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, .
- Confident, outgoing personality with strong communication skills.
- Experience sourcing, engaging, and managing influencers or creators.
- Strong awareness of social trends, formats, and online culture.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, campaign-driven environment.
- Charity or nonprofit experience is an asset but not required.
- Someone who is comfortable talking to people, building relationships, and representing the brand.
- A trend-spotter who understands what resonates on different platforms.
- Someone who is creative, organized, and confident experimenting with new ideas.

Education, Certifications, and Languages
- Bachelor degree in related field such as Marketing, Communications, Business, Public relations
- Professional Certifications would be ideal in: Hootsuite Social Marketing, Hubspot Socia Media Strategy, Meta Social Media Marketing Certification, and/or Google Analytics or PCM
- Fluent English
- Knowledge of additional languages such as Arabic/Urdu/Bengali/Gujarati/ Hindi/Punjabi an advantage
