IT Data Analyst Position

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized IT Data Analyst to join our team. This role focuses on data analysis, business intelligence, and transitioning from legacy BI systems to Power BI. The ideal candidate will be adept at building reports and dashboards that drive business decision-making and performance monitoring, particularly within the Oil & Gas industry.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Translate business needs into technical specifications.
• Design, build, and deploy BI solutions using Power BI and AWS QuickSight.
• Create visualizations and reports for various projects.
• Develop and execute database queries and conduct thorough analyses.

Business Intelligence:

• Maintain and support data analytics platforms.
• Evaluate and improve existing BI systems.
• Support legacy BI environments (SAP Business Objects & Tableau) during the transition to Power BI.
• Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting for BI solutions.

Database Management:

• Develop and maintain the organization's data warehouse design.
• Extract and manipulate data using SQL.
• Collaborate with teams to integrate systems.

Technical Documentation:

• Develop and update technical documentation for BI solutions.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Technical Proficiency:

• 2-5 years of experience with BI tools, specifically Power BI, SAP Business Objects, and Tableau.
• Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.
• Experience with Python is an asset.
• Proficiency in data warehouse design (e.g., dimensional modeling) and data mining.

Industry Knowledge:

• Understanding of the Oil & Gas industry is highly desirable.

• Proven track record of supporting and transitioning legacy BI environments to modern platforms.
