Job description

HAMILTON KENT INC. is seeking a Plant Engineer for our Plant in Etobicoke.

The Plant Engineer is responsible for performing highly diversified engineering duties to support the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the plant. This includes conducting technical and system analyses, economic evaluations, and equipment selection scenarios. The role also involves managing and supporting various capital and maintenance projects, ensuring all engineering activities comply with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards (e.g., OHSA, CSA, BSI, ANSI, MOE, MOL, Building Codes).

The Plant Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that equipment installations, designs, and cost estimates are accurate, timely, and aligned with operational and budgetary goals.

The compensation for this position is between $78,200 and $97,700 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical analyses, system evaluations, and economic studies to support plant operations and strategic decisions.
  • Lead or assist in the execution of diverse engineering projects, including project management, supervision, and technical design.
  • Design and specify fittings, layouts, and equipment configurations for plant systems.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for engineering designs, specifications, and project records.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for new equipment and process changes
  • Support the commissioning and validation of new equipment and technologies.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Ensure all engineering work complies with applicable H.S.E. regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Support equipment installations and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting and resolving plant equipment and infrastructure issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for engineering designs, specifications, and project records.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders.

Knowledge and Skills Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • At least 5 years of experience in plant or industrial engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing capital projects and working with contractors and vendors.
  • Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and project management tools.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards
