Job description

The Opportunity :

WSP has a new opportunity for a Junior Pipeline Engineer to join our Process and Mine Infrastructure Design team on a full-time basis in our Vancouver, Mississauga, or Montreal location.

The successful candidate will assist in the design of pipeline transportation systems for mineral concentrate slurries, mine tailings, paste tailings, and water (water supply, reclaim, and seepage) to support our mining clients. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated recent graduate to join the team.

What you can expect to do here :

  • Pipe friction loss calculations and pipe sizing, material selection, and specification;
  • Specification and sizing of equipment such as pumps, valves, hydrocyclones, and other associated process equipment;
  • Pipeline route selection and optimization;
  • Preparation of technical documents such as data sheets, reports, design criteria, and memoranda.
  • What you'll bring to WSP :

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering;
  • Registration or ability to register as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with PEO or EGBC;
  • Co-op experience in an industrial plant environment (e.g. pulp mill, chemical plant, mine, oil sands) or an engineering service / consulting company will be considered an asset;
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills;
  • Strong AutoCAD skills;
  • Excellent organization and time management abilities;
  • Strong interpersonal skills combined with a positive, team-oriented attitude;
  • High level of personal integrity with a strong work ethic;
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Spanish or French language capability is considered an asset;
  • High degree of emotional intelligence and demonstrated empathy-based decisions in past school, volunteer, or work experiences.
  • Compensation

    Salary Range (in British Columbia) : $53,900 - $91,700

    The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
