- Modify / monitor meals in accordance with diets and changes in health status, as recommended and monitored by the Clinical Dietitian or physician.
- Provide, review and reinforce diet instruction.
- Conduct audits to ensure accuracy of diet orders, preference lists, and trays. Observe changes in eating habits and bring any changes or concerns to the attention of the Clinical Dietitian.
- Provide an introduction / overview of the food services system to residents, families and caregivers.
- Participate in departmental monthly department QA, projects, and collaborate with departmental quality and service improvement initiatives
Qualifications include but are not limited to :
Graduated from an approved Dietary Technician diploma program, Food & Nutrition Management or recognized equivalent is requiredMember of Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (‘CSNM’)Completion of a Food Handler’s certificationTwo (2) years related clinical experience in a large health care facilityPrevious experience working with a geriatric population would be an assetExperience in direct care, nutrition screening diet modification and patient educationExperience in a computerized diet office environmentIntermediate computer skills and the ability to work with Microsoft Office softwareKnowledge of Computrition systemsKnowledge of Meditech software would be an assetExcellent written and verbal communication skillsGood organizational and analytical skillsEffective interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with geriatric patients who may have varying stages of dementiaAdditional Benefits :
