Cenovus Energy is currently recruiting for an Engineering Student to join our Operations Engineering Department. We are looking for a candidate who has an eagerness to learn and thrives in a fast-paced diverse working environment.

What youll do

Supporting Mechanical Engineers in the progress of their work.

Completing small engineering work packages to issue to Project Engineering or contractors with the assistance of a senior engineer.

Assisting with front end engineering work for projects.

Identifying process problems & / or performance inefficiencies through the collection and analysis of plant operating data.

Assisting with de-bottlenecking and reliability studies and activities.

Equipment evaluation and optimization.

Identifying and recommending and developing options for modifications to improve onstream time of the various units.

Completing small engineering work packages to issue to Project Engineering or contractors with the assistance of a senior engineer.

Assisting with front end engineering work for projects (scoping studies design base memorandum process hazard analysis etc.).

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications :

Legally authorized to work in Canadafull-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g. work visa)

Available to begin work in May 2026

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.

Strong verbal and written communications skills.

Critical thinker and ability to work independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced high-performing team environment.

Flexible to changing work demands and ability to prioritize.

Strong interpersonal skills dependable and drive for results.

Education

Must be enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work termOR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term

Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered
