Forklift Operator (GY)

Job Title: Forklift OperatorJob Description

This position requires a skilled individual to efficiently and safely handle the off-loading and on-loading of goods from containers using a propane sit-down counterbalance (SDCB) forklift. The role involves operating the forklift approximately 80% of the shift, managing freight that can vary significantly in weight and shape.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently operate a propane SDCB forklift to load and unload trailers.
• Navigate and maneuver in tight spaces within an open facility.
• Handle freight of various shapes and weights, ensuring safety at all times.
• Utilize paper shipping documents and transition to complex digital shipping software in upcoming months.
• Ensure accurate loading and unloading of products.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 1 year experience operating a SDCB forklift in a less-than-truckload (LTL) environment.
• Valid forklift certification.
• Proficiency in computer skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
• Reliable transportation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in LTL environment.
• Leadership experience.
• Experience with Truckmate software.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and communicate effectively in English.

Work Environment

Join a fast-paced, 24-hour operation that depends on the arrival and departure of trucks. The environment is busy with trucks and drivers, and forklifts operate swiftly yet safely. The facility features over 50 doors and handles a wide variety of products from fridges to tires. You will be part of a multicultural team with approximately 50 operators working per shift. The dress code includes steel-toed shoes. The shift is from Sunday to Thursday, 11 PM to 7 AM.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Surrey, BC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.75 - $25.75/hr.
