Description
Reviews different understandings of what constitutes research, both as it pertains to the production of evidence and to the evaluation of existing evidence relating to policy, to regulatory and statutory interventions and to identifying evidence gaps. Students learn research methodologies to design research so as to maximize its evidentiary value (given existing constraints); they will also learn to synthesize and assess the evidentiary value of existing research.

Requirements :
The candidate must have :
c) significant work experience in weight of evidence evaluation; and
d) significant experience in the translation of scientific evidence into policy recommendations and / or the use of scientific evidence in decision-making in a legislative, regulatory or policy context.
Considered an asset is :
a) having previous experience teaching a university level course that explicitly involves the assessment and evaluation of scientific evidence from diverse domains of inquiry; and
b) experience with evidence provided by non-western science knowledge systems, e.g. indigenous knowledge.
Additional Information and / or Comments :
An acceptable level of education and / or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and / or demonstrated experience.
