Adecco is currently seeking a
Data Engineer for a full-time opportunity based in Ottawa. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in building data pipelines and supporting AI/ML solutions, who enjoys working in a fast-paced, innovative technology environment.
As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain data ingestion pipelines for both structured and unstructured sources on AWS. You will support knowledge-base-driven architectures used by AI assistants and agents, troubleshoot data quality and performance issues, and collaborate closely with architects and developers to implement data schemas and contracts. Your work will directly contribute to the performance, accuracy, and reliability of AI solutions.
- Location: Ottawa, ON
- Pay Rate: $65 - $75/hour T4 (negotiable) | $75 - $85/hour IC (negotiable)
- Job Type: Full-time, Permanent/Contract (negotiable based on candidate)
- Schedule: Monday to Friday (standard business hours)
Responsibilities:- Design and build data ingestion pipelines for structured and unstructured sources on AWS
- Normalize, enrich, and tag data into semantic and vector-ready formats using AWS Bedrock Knowledge Bases
- Support knowledge-base-driven architectures used by AI assistants and agents
- Partner with architects and developers on data schemas and data contracts
- Troubleshoot data quality, performance, and completeness issues
- Build automation to enable data enrichment and improve data quality
- Support both fast-track ingestion for demos and longer-term governed pipelines
Requirements and Qualifications:- Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada
- Strong experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflow processing (10+ years)
- Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, preferably AWS (5-8 years)
- Experience working with unstructured text data (documents, APIs, standards) (5-8 years)
- Understanding of semantic search, embeddings, vector stores, and chunking strategies
- Experience with Apache Airflow or equivalent for workflow orchestration, dependencies, retries, and monitoring
- Experience supporting AI/ML or GenAI solutions (3-5 years)
- Agile development experience (3-5 years)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
