One () temporary part time Ward Secretary position is available in the Emergency Department at Palmerston & District Hospital, site of North Wellington Health Care.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the incumbent is responsible for facilitating effective communication, providing reception and clerical support including (but not limited to) :

• Electronic registration / admission / discharge / transfer of Emergency Department patients
• Processing physician orders and consultation requests
• Arranging tests / procedures
• Accessing medical records and obtaining information for practitioners when required
• Arranging transportation
• Answering phones
• Completing requests for PTAC authorizations
• Chart assembly, filing, copying
• Maintaining clerical supplies within the department
• Assisting with coordination of additional staffing needs
• Supporting break relief when required at Switchboard
• Assisting with turnover of rooms as appropriate when volumes are high
• Communicating with patient's and / or families to obtain additional demographic or emergency contact data when required
