Are you a procurement professional with experience in running a competitive procurement process, contract drafting and negotiations, and vendor management? We have opportunities for Senior Buyers (Senior Purchasing Officers), who will be authorized to make contractual commitments for the acquisition of commodities.

You’ll be responsible to ensure the integrity of the acquisition process and maximize acquisition strategies. How you’ll make a difference : You’ll help protect the financial integrity of B.C.’s workers’ compensation system, ensuring we serve British Columbians now and in the future.

Where you’ll work

  • Prepare, write, and review legal contracts and analyze contracts for potential problems and opportunities for a range of goods and services, including technology‑related agreements where applicable.

Is this a good fit for you?

We’re looking for people who can :

  • Provide work direction and act as a resource to co‑workers and to lead evaluation teams in selecting a product or service
  • Establish and maintain credible and cooperative working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers
  • Identify and thoroughly analyze complex purchases and make recommendations in accordance with established policies using initiative, resourcefulness, and sound judgment
  • Provide working knowledge of legal issues and financial principles as they relate to the sale of goods and services
  • Present technical information in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing, to technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Your background and experience

  • A minimum of six years of supply chain / procurement experience, including experience running a competitive procurement process, drafting contracts, and vendor relationship management
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation from the Supply Chain Management Association (or equivalent body)
  • Post‑secondary degree in a related discipline is preferred
  • We’ll consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Important to know

Before we can finalize any offer of employment, you must :

  • Confirm you’re legally entitled to work in Canada
  • WorkSafeBC’s COVID‑19 Employee Mandatory Vaccine Policy (the “Policy”) is suspended effective January 9, 2023, however we reserve the right to re‑implement it in response to changes in the public health landscape, including public health orders. We are committed to the protection, health, and safety of our employees and our Communicable Disease Prevention Program and related protocols remain in effect.
