Underground Mine Supervisor

PERMANENT  POSITION

The work location is in Nunavik and the normal work schedule is 11 hours per day on a rotation of 6 weeks : 3 weeks worked (77 hours per week, 7 days a week) followed by 3 weeks for rest.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Underground Mine Captain, the supervisor has the following responsibilities in particular :

  • Plan, organize, manage material and human resources at the drilling, blasting, withdrawal, and backfilling level.
  • Monitor the quality of work performed in accordance with the company's quality and profitability objectives.
  • Manage and mobilize a team of around 20 people; lead complex cases and resolve conflicts in his department.
  • Participate in human resources management practices (workforce planning, recruitment, management of disciplinary measures, staff evaluation, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain a network with local stakeholders.
  • Assist the contractor in his daily needs.
  • Meet the company's health and safety requirements and recommendations.
  • Perform other related tasks associated with this position.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hold a college diploma (DEC) in mining, or equivalent.
  • Have a Minimum of 10 years of experience in underground mining, including 5 years as a supervisor.
  • Have strong skills in planning, leadership, and personnel management.
  • Be able to take a position in more complex cases in conflict management and project management.
  • Business acumen and a sense of excellence in customer service.
  • Hold the mining modules (FMTM 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7).
  • Hold a valid general explosive permit.
  • Bilingualism (French and functional English).
  • Hold a valid class 5 driving license.
  • Nice to have

  • Accredited training in mine rescue and first aid in the workplace.
  • Experience in the mining sector in northern Quebec.
