As an Events Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing large scale buying events at Home Hardware Stores Limited. This role requires a seasoned events professional who is passionate about creating memorable experiences with engaging content and creative elements. You will work with external vendors, venues, suppliers and will have the support of an Event Coordinator. Led by the Manager, Corporate and Dealer Events, this opportunity will suit a critical thinker who is well organized with outstanding time management skills and enjoys networking and connecting people with our brand to create meaningful, profitable, and innovative experiences. Ready to make an impact in a new role? Here’s how :

  • Coordinate the planning and execution of major conferences and events, such as Homecoming, Dealer Retail Symposium, Supplier Partnership Meetings and Dealer Regional Meetings.
  • Liaise with internal and external vendors (i.e., AV, catering, decor, and staffing teams) to prepare quotes, RFPs, financial estimates, BEOs and floor plans for the assigned events.
  • Act as the onsite contact for events, including coordinating deliveries, suppliers, event set up, facility preparedness, signage, client assistance and any day-of event requirements.
  • Maintain, and adhere to, the provided budget for the assigned events, in collaboration with the finance team. This includes budget tracking and revenue / expense reconciliations.
  • Lead working group meetings in support of your assigned events.
  • Provide leadership to Event Coordinators & Assistants, ensuring they are aware of, and adhering to, HHSL event standards and expectations.
  • Support occasional team / staff events.

We’re looking for :

  • Post-secondary education in Event or Hospitality Management, with five to eight years of event planning experience.
  • One to two years of leadership experience (direct or indirect) is an asset.
  • Experience with planning large scale conferences of 500+ attendees.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adjust communication style to various levels of stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team and independently with great interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual (French) is an asset but not required.
  • Very well versed with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Canva or graphics creation is an asset but not required.
  • Ability to work with interruptions and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • The ability to be onsite three days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, to accommodate our hybrid working model.
